1970 – Sofia, Winner of the First Prize and Gold Medal in the Fourth International Competition for Young Opera Singers.
1972 – Treviso, Winner of the First Prize in the Fourth International Competition for Young Opera Singers for Best Performance of the part of Amelia in Giuseppe Verdi’s Un ballo in maschera.
1972 – Verona, Winner of a medal by the Amici della Lirica di Verona Society.
1974 – Treviso, Winner of the Puccini medal.
1977 – 23 May, Sofia, She was awarded the Merited Artist title.
1978 – Pleven, Winner of the 100th Anniversary of Pleven Epopee medal.
1979 – 23 May, Sofia, She was awarded the People’s Artist title.
1979 – Rio de Janeiro, Winner of the 70 Years of Opera in Rio de Janeiro medal.
1980 – Marseille, Winner of a medal by the Marseille Foundation for her appearance as Lady Macbeth in Giuseppe Verdi’s Macbeth, season 1979-80.

1981 – Fiuggi, Winner of the UNICEF Golden Archer Award for Outstanding Singing and Interpretation Achievements in Art.
1981 – Parma, Winner of the Verdi-Toscanini medal for Macbeth. She was declared queen of Verdi voices.
1981 – Arena di Verona, Winner of the Giovanni Zenatello International Award for Best Performance of the title role in Ponchielli’s opera La Gioconda.

1982 – Sofia, Laureate of the Dimitrov Prize. She was awarded the Georgi Dimitrov 1882–1982 anniversary medal.

1985 – Milan, Commemorative mask for her appearance in Aida.
1986 – Mantua, Winner of the Palcoscenico d’oro (Golden Stage) Award by the Friends of Opera Club.
1987 – 30 May, Brescia, Winner of the Golden Rose Award by the Friends of the Teatro Grande Association for Outstanding Singing and Interpretation Achievements in the roles of Abigaille in Verdi’s Nabucco, Lady Macbeth in Verdi’s Macbeth and Turandot in Giacomo Puccini’s Turandot.
1987 – 27 June, Busseto, Winner of the Verdi d’Oro (Golden Verdi) Award, the only non-Italian laureate of the award.
1988 – Sofia, Winner of the Sofia Award for Classical Music Performance.


1989 – 27 November, Torre del Lago, Winner of the Puccini Award for Lifetime Achievement. Franco Zeffirelli also received the Puccini Award.

1996 – Sofia, Winner of the Stara Planina Order, first degree.

1996 – 12 November, Pleven, She was awarded the title of Honorary Citizen of Pleven.

1997 – 31 January, Sofia, Winner of the Crystal Lyre Award by the Union of Bulgarian Musicians, the first winner for Opera and Operetta.
1998 – 21 November, Neukirchen, Winner of the Silver Lyre Award by the Austrian Friends of Opera.
2001 – May, Sofia, She was awarded the title of Doctor Honoris Causa by Prof. Pancho Vladigerov National Academy of Music.
2001 – 23 May, Sofia, She was awarded the title of Honorary Citizen of Sofia.
2002 – Rila Monastery, Winner of the Grand Platonic Nobel of the 20th Century Award, a diploma and a ring by the Plato World Academy.
2004 – 25 September, Santa Barbara, Winner of the Lavinium alla carriera Award.
2006 – 18 July, Sofia, Validation of a Bulgarian Post commemorative postage stamp and postal envelope to honour Ghena Dimitrova.
2011 – 2 May, Sofia, In commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the birth of the great soprano, the Bulgarian National Bank released a silver commemorative coin Ghena Dimitrova, the third one of the Great Bulgarian Voices series. The previous two were dedicated to Boris Christoff and Nicolai Ghiaurov. The coin had a face value of BGN 10 and a circulation of 4,000 pieces.
